How do I put this list together?
It’s largely automated. I have a collection of Python scripts in a Jupyter Notebook that scrapes Meetup and Eventbrite for events in categories that I consider to be “tech,” “entrepreneur,” and “nerd.” The result is a checklist that I review. I make judgment calls and uncheck any items that I don’t think fit on this list.
In addition to events that my scripts find, I also manually add events when their organizers contact me with their details.
What goes into this list?
I prefer to cast a wide net, so the list includes events that would be of interest to techies, nerds, and entrepreneurs. It includes (but isn’t limited to) events that fall under any of these categories:

Thursday at 6:30 at M.Bird in Armature Works (Tampa): Launch Your Career in Tech Night is an exclusive CodeBoxx event designed for recent high school graduates, parents, and future tech professionals interested in exploring careers in AI and software development.
Hosted at M.Bird Rooftop in Tampa, this immersive evening will introduce attendees to the CodeBoxx program, the future of AI-driven careers, and real pathways into the tech industry without following the traditional college route.
Guests will hear directly from students and alumni…and me! I’ll be speaking there, talking about the current state of the industry.

Satuday at 10:30 a.m. at Urban Drinkery (St. Pete): The Loud Room presents Excellence, A Black Women in Tech brunch, an event designed for Black Women in Tech from the Tampa Bay area.

When you are often the “only” one in the room, navigating a career in tech requires a different kind of blueprint – whether you are a junior engineer, a seasoned VP, or a tech entrepreneur.
This inaugural bruch is designed for black women in tech from the Tampa Bay area. We are gathering to build a collaborative, high-trust circle where you can speak honestly, feel heard, and walk away with strategy.
To ensure psychological safety and a true peer-to-peer dynamic, attendance is strictly capped at 20.

Is it just me, or would you agree that LLMs should refer to themselves as “this unit” instead of “I”, just like the AIs on the original Star Trek series did?
I think it might help prevent more people from going down the LLM rabbit hole.
