This set of satirical, funny-because-it’s-true org charts for big tech companies has been doing the internet rounds for the past couple of days. (The original version, by “Manu”, is here.) It shows the chain of command at Amazon, Google, Facebook, my former company Microsoft, Apple and Oracle. Take a look:
This weekend, someone showed me the org charts and asked me how true-to-life the Microsoft org chart was. I told him “It’s a satire piece, and as such, they’re going to take some liberties with the truth for comic effect. I’d have drawn it like this…”
I kid because I love.
This article also appears in The Adventures of Accordion Guy in the 21st Century.

As an ex-Microsoftee of a few years (years both there and since leaving) this is pretty good. Although I’d have probably had knives ;)
Steve: Heh heh heh. The knives might’ve been a better metaphor, but I didn’t want to do too much graphic work.
I know this is an older article, but I have to add to the Microsoft (Most Intelligent Consumers Realize Our Software Only Fools Teenagers) Org Chart. I agree with Steve I would use knives as well, because I am highly confident that the guns in Microsoft would jam up and have to be rebuilt before they fired the first shot….RIMSHOT!!!!
A knife would definitely be the better approach.
That’s too funny, good job

Great post. In the light of recent anouncements that Ballmer stepping down with no clear successor, this really hits home.
So funny, because it’s true
